VR simulation - breast and prostate cancer

The VR simulation of breast or prostate cancer was done in partnership between MedRoom and the event “Todos Juntos Contra o Câncer (TJCC)”, a project that unites different sectors that look after cancer patients in Brazil. In this simulation it is possible to observe the stages of the disease evolution, in 5 different stages and its variations. In virtual reality it is possible to monitor from the risk of developing carcinoma to the stage where the cancer goes into metastasis. More than 3 thousand participants in TJCC 2019 were able to try the VR. All the graphics and demonstrations of the effects of the disease on the body were performed by our team of artists and doctors and mention the most common situations of the disease. Of course, we understand that cancer is a complex disease that manifests itself in different ways for each person, but we believe that the interaction and creative use of technology can help raise awareness.

Possibilities

With increasingly realistic models and the motion capture system used in Game Design, it is possible to develop simulations with a serious gamification based on attributes that need to be developed in the health care professional: analysis, knowledge and empathy.
